Ellen was born in Elmswell in 1866. She was baptised in the village on 28th October 1866. She was the daughter of William Farrow (1842) and Eliza Cross.
Ellen married Herbert William Armstrong on 25th December 1890 at Elmswell. Witnesses were William Armstrong and Sarah Cross.
The couple had the following children:
- Eve Armstrong (18th January 1894)
- Victoria Armstrong (c1898)
- Maude Armstrong (c1900)
Ellen died in 1930 aged 62.
